Heart: The Basics

The heart is a muscular organ found in all animals with a circulatory system (including all vertebrates), that is responsible for pumping blood throughout the blood vessels by repeated, rhythmic contractions. The term cardiac (as in cardiology) means "related to the heart" and comes from the Greek καρδιά, kardia, for "heart."

Love 101: To Love Oneself is the Beginning of a Lifelong Romance

If you were accused of loving yourself, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

There is a wonderful book out there called "Love 101: To Love Oneself is the Beginning of a Lifelong Romance" which I read not that long ago. I know it seems a little weird to think about 'loving yourself' yet who will love you if you don't love yourself?

I gotta' say that it made the journey better and I have found wonderful partners since learning this valuable life lesson.

"Love is taking care of, with regular intervals of taking good care of, and occasional splurges of pampering."

And if things aren't going well and I'm not getting what I want (say a card at Valentine's Day) I can just send one to myself! It's really pretty amazing. You may want to give it a try sometime!

We have common cause against the night...

Why love the woman who is your wife? Her nose breathes the air of a world that I know; therefore I love that nose. Her ears hear the music I might sing half the night through; therefore I love her ears. Her eyes delight in seasons of the land; and so I love those eyes. Her tongue knows quince, peach, chokecherry, mint and lime; I love to hear it speaking. Because her flesh knows heat, cold, affliction, I know fire, snow, and pain...We love what we know, we love what we are. Common cause, common cause, common cause of mouth, eye, ear, tongue, hand, nose, flesh, heart, and soul.
